Speaker leaves for Tanzania to attend IPU Assembly
The Speaker is leading a parliamentary delegation comprising seven other BNP lawmakers and two Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami lawmakers.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad left Dhaka for Tanzania today (4 October) to attend the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, scheduled to be held in Arusha from 5 to 9 October .
He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 2:30pm, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
The Speaker is leading a parliamentary delegation comprising seven other BNP lawmakers and two Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami lawmakers.
The seven other BNP lawmakers are Whip Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu, Sarwar Jamal Nizam, AE Sultan Mahmud Babu, Md Shamshur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Sk Azizul Baree, Humam Quader Chowdhury and Sunsila Jabrin, while the Jamaat MPs are Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem and Rokeya Begum.
During the visit, Hafiz Uddin will participate in various sessions of the IPU Assembly to be held with a focus on the overall theme of Enhancing good governance and empowering communities through inclusivity, trust and opportunities for all.
The Assembly is expected to conclude with the adoption of an outcome document on the overall theme of the General Debate.
The Speaker is scheduled to return home on 11 October .
