Bangladesh begins work on first-ever Civil Aviation Master Plan
According to relevant officials, the master plan will provide a unified strategic framework for the aviation sector
Bangladesh has begun work on its first-ever Civil Aviation Master Plan (CAMP), a comprehensive, long-term blueprint designed to guide the sustainable development and growth of the country's aviation industry over the next two to three decades.
The landmark initiative was formally inaugurated through a workshop titled "Civil Aviation Master Planning Overview," jointly organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and the Civil Aviation Academy, Bangladesh, in Dhaka today (21 June).
According to relevant officials, the master plan will provide a unified strategic framework for the aviation sector.
It will encompass airport infrastructure development, the modernisation of air navigation systems, the expansion of aviation services, workforce development, and the enhancement of safety and security protocols.
Additionally, the plan will focus on integrating advanced technologies aligned with international standards.
CAAB officials noted that Bangladesh currently lacks a comprehensive national aviation master plan, making the formulation of CAMP a critical milestone for the country's civil aviation sector.
The civil aviation authority expects the entire planning process to be completed within the next 18 months.
The project is being developed under the direct guidance of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with technical assistance provided by international aviation experts.
During the workshop, ICAO aviation expert Mohamed El Amiri outlined the vital components necessary for successful aviation master planning.
He also emphasised the importance of implementing a long-term vision to support Bangladesh's rapidly growing aviation market.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest, while State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat attended the event as a special guest.
The event was chaired by CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, and CAAB Member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan delivered the welcome address.
