24 more flights cancelled at Dhaka airport, Qatar Airways to operate special flights
Passenger suffering continued today as 24 more international flights were cancelled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport amid ongoing airspace restrictions in several Middle Eastern countries.
Airport authorities said the cancellations followed the security situation in the region that led to the closure of airspace in countries including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan since 28 February.
On Wednesday, the cancelled flights included services operated by Kuwait Airways (2 flights), Air Arabia (4), Gulf Air (2), Qatar Airways (4), Emirates (4), Jazeera Airways (4) and Flydubai (4).
Officials said the latest cancellations have further intensified the suffering of passengers, many of whom remain stranded or facing uncertainty over travel plans.
According to airport data, flight cancellations have continued for nearly two weeks. Since February 28, a total of 391 flights have been cancelled at the Dhaka airport.
Airport authorities said flight operations will fully normalize only after the affected Middle Eastern countries reopen their airspace.
