4,725kg hilsa exported to India
Dhaka-based companies, Ripa Enterprise and SS Corporation, exported the fish in three vans at a rate of $10 per kg.
A total of 4,725 kilograms of hilsa fish were exported from Bangladesh to India through Brahmanbaria's Akhaura land port on Friday evening ahead of the biggest Hindu festival of Durga Puja.
Dhaka-based companies, Ripa Enterprise and SS Corporation, exported the fish in three vans at a rate of $10 per kg.
Monir Hossain Babul, owner of Pritam Enterprise, said, "Ripa Enterprise and SS Corporation are currently exporting hilsa through Akhaura port. However, other approved companies can also export.

"The first shipment to India comprised 4,725 kilograms of hilsa, with 3,225 kilograms from Ripa Enterprise and 1,500 kilograms from SS Corporation."
Akhaura Land Customs Station Revenue Officer Ali Anwar said the government will earn foreign currency through this export.
Each year, the government permits the export of hilsa to India during the Durga Puja season. Currently, 79 companies have been authorised to export a total of 3,950 tonnes of hilsa, with each company allowed to export 50 tonnes.
Companies can export hilsa to India until 30 October.
