Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government has taken every possible measures to face the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic for the upcoming winter.
Prime Minister came up with the remark during this year's Independence Award (Swadhinata Padak) held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital where PM took part via video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban.
"Country's health sector is prepared to deal with it," PM said adding "Everyone should maintain Covid-19 safety measures as according to experts a winter surge of Covid-19 disease will come."
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
As of Wednesday, the overall death toll from the deadly virus rose to 5,861 and the number of total infections stood at 403,079 in the country.
The world has entered in the tenth month of the pandemic. At the time of writing, the virus has infected more than 44,775,984 people and close to 1,179,239 people died.
