A probe committee has found evidence of fake Covid-19 certificates being issued from Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).

Additional District Magistrate Yusuf Ali on behalf of the committee submitted a report to the deputy commissioner on Monday and recommended legal action against KMCH.

Earlier, it was alleged that an outsourced employee (liftman) of KMCH, Nowshad had sold fake Covid-19 negative certificates to Tania Begum of BK Roy Cross Road (sample ID KMC-2003) and to Shamim Ahmed of the West Baniakhamar area (sample ID KMC-19031).

However, in actuality, the Covid-19 sample test results of both individuals came back positive.

As a result, the incident raised suspicion about the matter. Even the ID through which they were given a negative certificate turned out to be fake.

District Civil Surgeon Sujat Ahmed said: "Police are looking for Nowshad. If he is arrested and interrogated, it will be possible to identify the people involved in such fraud."

Earlier, the Khulna district administration formed a five-member investigation committee in the wake of the allegations.

Along with the Additional District Magistrate, the Deputy Civil Surgeon, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, District Executive Magistrate, a representation of the Director of KMCH took part in the investigation.
