NBR warns of scam using chairman’s identity on fake WhatsApp account
They urged its officials, employees, and the general public to remain cautious and avoid responding.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has warned the public about a fraud ring using a fake WhatsApp account impersonating its chairman to demand money from individuals.
In a press release issued today (16 April), the NBR said the scammers opened a WhatsApp account using the chairman's name and photograph with the number +8801618-603328. The group has reportedly been contacting people and attempting to extort money.
The authority noted that the same group had previously used similar fake WhatsApp accounts to target individuals with fraudulent requests.
The NBR urged its officials, employees, and the general public to remain cautious and avoid responding.
