‘All fatalities at DMCH were not from Covid-19’
“About the 24 cases, it cannot be confirmed whether they were Covid-19 positive or not as their samples were not collected”
Dhaka Medical Collage and Hospital (DMCH) authorities have claimed that all the 28 death cases in the hospital since May 1 were not from Covid-19.
Reportedly, DMCH started admitting patients infected with the novel coronavirus from May 1.
"Among the death cases, some of them had heart related diseases and respiratory diseases," Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, director of DMCH, told The Business Standard on Wednesday.

He added that only four patients died from the virus while 24 others were from multiple diseases.
"However, about the 24 cases, it cannot be confirmed whether they were Covid-19 positive or not as their samples were not collected," he added.
"We admit all patients including coronavirus infected and have a separate unit for the Covid-19 patients. Only four people have died from this separate unit. The data was already given to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR)," he further added.
The hospital has 300 coronavirus patients. Hence, it is preparing to admit another 600 patients in the second phase.
