Banglalink to distribute relief amid winter, pandemic

Banglalink, one of the leading digital communications service providers in the country, is due to distribute relief packages among 14.5 thousand households affected by the ongoing pandemic and winter season.

The aid will be distributed in association with Bangladesh Sena Kalyan Sangstha and the Bangladesh Army, said a press release.

Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink Taimur Rahman and Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Sena Kalyan Sangstha Air Commodore M Moyeenuddin signed an agreement regarding the relief campaign, on behalf of their respective organisations, at Sena Kalyan Sangstha's head office in Dhaka recently.

Each relief package from Banglalink will comprise: five kilogrammes of rice, one kilogramme of lentils, one litre of oil, half a kilogramme of semolina, one kilogramme of sugar, one kilogramme of salt, and two bars of soap, stated the press release.

Taimur Rahman said, "Considering the plight of thousands of households affected by the pandemic, floods and winter season, we have decided to come forward with a relief campaign for the third time this year."

"As a socially responsible corporation, we always try to stand by the communities during challenging times. I want to thank Bangladesh Sena Kalyan Sangstha and the Bangladesh Army once again for helping us reach out to the affected families living in different parts of the country," he added.

Air Commodore M Moyeenuddin said, "The people of a few parts of the country are facing difficult situations due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, cold wave and post flood difficulties. We really appreciate the initiative that Banglalink has taken in order to help the affected households during this difficult time."

"I believe that such a collaborative effort can set a good example by leaving a positive impact on the society," he added.

Muniruzzaman Sheikh, chief ethics and compliance officer of Banglalink; Ankit Sureka, head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability of Banglalink; Hasinul Quddus, head of Stakeholder Relations of Banglalink; Mohammad Adil Hossain, head of Ethics and Compliance Operation of Banglalink; and Brigadier General Ohidul Alam Chowdhury, PPM, SPP, ndc, psc, DG, RED, Bangladesh Sena Kalyan Sangstha were also present at the signing ceremony.

Earlier this year, Banglalink also extended support to more than 35.5 thousand pandemic-affected households in two phases.
