Youth dies after mob beating over suspected mugging in Mugda

A youth has died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being severely beaten by a mob on suspicion of attempted mugging in the capital's Mugda area.
The deceased was identified as Al Amin, 20. He died around 5:30pm on Thursday, according to police.
The incident occurred around 9:45pm on Wednesday in front of Shanto Filling Station, located opposite Mugda General Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Uttam Kumar of Mugda Police Station said Al Amin was reportedly caught by local residents while attempting to mug someone and was beaten severely.
"Police rushed to the scene after receiving information and rescued the youth in critical condition. He was taken to Dhaka Medical, where he died during treatment," the SI said.
He added that authorities have not yet been able to confirm Al Amin's full identity or address.
"A case has been filed with Mugda Police Station in connection with the attempted mugging. Efforts are underway to gather more details about the deceased," SI Uttam said.
The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
