The writ petition is likely to be heard tomorrow by the High Court panel of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali

A writ petition has been filed at the High Court seeking directives to preserve the nearly 300-year-old Teota Zamindar Bari in Shibaloy upazila of Manikganj, a site rich with memories of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and his wife, Promila Debi.
Petitioner Zahid Ahmed Hero, a Supreme Court lawyer, stated today (5 August) that the writ petition is likely to be heard tomorrow by the High Court panel of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali.
The lawyer also attached a related report published on 19 July in a national daily, stating that the Teota Zamindar Bari is currently in a vulnerable condition due to a lack of proper maintenance. It underscored the need for urgent measures to preserve the structure as a heritage site.
The cultural secretary, director general of the Department of Archaeology, Manikganj deputy commissioner and Shibaloy upazila nirbahi officer have been made respondents to the petition.
The Teota Zamindar Bari was built in the 17th century by Panchanan Sen, a zamindar and a prominent businessman from the Dinajpur region. The historic estate holds deep cultural significance as it is closely associated with the memories of the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and his wife, Promila Debi.
