Workers and employees of Synovia Pharma PLC, a subsidiary of Beximco Group owned by Salman F Rahman, have called for government intervention to address their outstanding salaries and allowances, which have been unpaid for 31 months.

Under the banner of "Employees of Synovia Pharma PLC," the staff held a press conference at the National Press Club in the city on Tuesday (13 August), demanding full payment of their dues.

In a written statement, Md Mahmud Hasan, president of Synovia Pharma PLC's Workers and Employees Association, said, "Salman F Rahman acquired the multinational pharmaceutical company Synovia Pharma PLC in 2021. Since then, he has unlawfully withheld the salaries of our 380 employees for the past 31 months.

"Despite a legal battle that led to the Appellate Division's order to retain these employees, Synovia's unsuccessful attempt to review this order has yet to result in any salary payments," he added.

The association's General Secretary, Sanjib Kumar Chakraborty, and member Ataur Rahman were also present at the press conference.

Earlier that day, the aggrieved workers staged a mass sit-in protest in front of the company's headquarters in Segunbagicha.
