Women and children affairs ministry launches new training in Sylhet
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Momtaz Ahmed, NDC, has said that the well-being and care of mothers and children are essential for building a healthy nation.
Therefore, a safe and healthy environment must be ensured for mothers and children.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of a training programme under the "Supporting Implementation of the Mother and Child (SIMCBP)" project of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, held at the BRAC Learning Centre in Khadimnagar, Sylhet, today.
The event was organised with the participation of various upazila-level professionals who provide training as resource persons to promote the good health of mothers and children. It was presided over by Dr Prakash Kanti Chowdhury, joint secretary and project director of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
Highlighting the importance of services for mothers during pregnancy, the senior secretary said, "The development of a child begins in the womb, and the mother's physical health directly affects the child's brain development during pregnancy. Therefore, mothers must be provided with all necessary assistance, including nutritious food, adequate rest, proper support and medical check-ups during pregnancy and postpartum."
Addressing the resource persons participating in the training, he said, "Different professionals have different perspectives, but a great purpose is achieved only when everyone's perspectives come together." He urged the participants to ensure that every mother and every family benefits from the training.
The senior secretary also inaugurated the Sanjeevani training for employees of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at the Bangladesh Rural Development Institute in Khadimnagar. Afterwards, he visited the Youth Training Centre of the Department of Youth Development in Sylhet Sadar and the day-care centre for children of working mothers.
In the afternoon, she visited the offices of the divisional and deputy directors of the Women's Support Programme run by the Department of Women's Affairs and held a meeting with district officials.
