US ambassador meets agriculture minister, discusses trade and cooperation
The minister said the United States is a long-standing friend and development partner of Bangladesh
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen paid a courtesy call on Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin-ur Rashid at his office at the Secretariat today (2 March).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation in agriculture and livestock, as well as bilateral import-export trade.
Welcoming the ambassador, the minister said the United States is a long-standing friend and development partner of Bangladesh, noting that the two countries enjoy excellent relations.
He said Bangladesh welcomes US cooperation, including support in agricultural technology, to further strengthen its agriculture-based economy.
Congratulating the newly appointed minister, the US ambassador said his country is interested in further strengthening import-export trade in the agricultural sector between the two nations. The minister also expressed hope that both sides would work together to enhance bilateral trade in the sector.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture were present at the meeting.
