Locals recovered bodies of missing university student Sadia Islam Suchana and her cousin Rimon eight days after their boat sank in the Padma River in Rajshahi.

The decomposed bodies were recovered on Saturday when they floated on the spot where the boat sank.

The deceased Sadia was the third semester BBA student at American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB).

Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense Zakir Hossain said, "There is no way to recognise the bodies by looking. However, their relatives identified them by looking at their clothes."

The bodies were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Earlier on September 25, a boat carrying 13 passengers sank in Padma River near Naboganga area in Rajshahi's Paba upazila.

Eleven people were rescued at that time with the help of locals, but Suchana and Rimon went missing.
