Two Barishal social services officials honoured for integrity
Two officials of the Barishal District Social Services Office have been recognised once again for their integrity, transparency, and professional excellence.
Deputy Director, AKM Akhtaruzzaman Talukder, and Assistant Director, Sazzad Parvez, have been selected as the best officials in Barishal Division on the occasion of National Social Services Day 2026.
Administrative sources stated that the Department of Social Services evaluates officials at divisional, district, and upazila levels every year on the occasion of National Social Services Day, based on defined performance and efficiency indicators. Officials demonstrating outstanding integrity and service delivery are recognised with awards.
Accordingly, AKM Akhtaruzzaman Talukder and Sazzad Parvez were selected in recognition of their professional competence and contributions at the workplace. The Ministry of Social Welfare has decided to formally present certificates of appreciation to both officials.
Both officials had earlier received national-level recognition, having been awarded the Integrity Award (Shuddhachar Award) in 2020.
Assistant Director, Sazzad Parvez, has previously been named Best Probation Officer in Barishal at the national level three times. He also received the Deputy Commissioner's Award in 2017.
Beyond his official duties, Sazzad Parvez is actively involved in social work. Along with his school and college friends, he founded a voluntary organisation named "84 Event", which works to support underprivileged and low-income communities in Barishal. As the organisation's convener, he has distributed approximately Tk2.6 million over the past two years to support the rehabilitation of the destitute.
Officials stated that the decision to confer the Shuddhachar Award on both AKM Akhtaruzzaman Talukder and Sazzad Parvez was taken by the divisional committee in recognition of their sustained contributions and ethical conduct.
Both officials stated that they will continue their commitment to social service and public welfare in the days ahead.
