What are the new bus fares for Dhaka, Ctg, and long-distance routes?
Due to the increase in diesel prices, the government increased the fare for all types of buses by 11 paisa per kilometre on Thursday. The fare became effective from that day.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has published the new bus and minibus fare list following the fare hike.
The fare list has been released for the capital Dhaka, Chattogram metropolis, and surrounding districts of Dhaka.
Simultaneously, the government agency also published the fare list for inter-district and long-distance bus services.
Due to the increase in diesel prices, the government increased the fare for all types of buses by 11 paisa per kilometre on Thursday. The fare became effective from that day.
The new fare list was published on the BRTA website on Saturday.
In the new list, there are separate schedules for every bus route in the capital and on long-distance paths.
Regarding buses in the capital, it has been stated that the minimum fare is Tk10. No extra fare can be collected.
Furthermore, the new fare rates will not be applicable to gas-run buses. Additionally, if the fare includes a fraction, it will be rounded up to Tk1 if it is more than 50 paisa. If it is less than 50 paisa, it cannot be charged.
The government does not determine the fare for air-conditioned (AC) buses. Consequently, the fare for this class of bus is determined by the transport owners' discretion and competition on specific routes.
Besides, the quality of the bus and the number of seats also influence the fare determination.
