Metro rail service suspended on Agargaon-Shahbagh section due to technical glitch
Meanwhile, trains are operating normally on the Uttara-Agargaon and Shahbagh-Motijheel sections.
Dhaka metro rail services have again been partially suspended due to a technical issue, days after a fatal bearing pad accident caused suspension of train operations.
Around 9pm today (29 October), train operations between Agargaon and Shahbagh stations were halted following a mechanical malfunction, officials said.
An official of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) told The Business Standard that services on this section were stopped due to the glitch but are expected to resume across the full route from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, trains are operating normally on the Uttara-Agargaon and Shahbagh-Motijheel sections, the official added.
A passenger at Karwan Bazar Station told The Business Standard that many commuters, including some who were ill, were stuck in long queues around 9:30pm.
"One of the ticket-checking machines broke down due to excessive load. People had to look for alternative transport options, but rickshaw and CNG auto-rickshaw drivers were charging double the usual fare," the passenger said.
