Freight train derails in Brahmanbaria; Dhaka's rail link with Ctg, Sylhet snapped

A freight train derailed in Brahmanbaria on Friday night (9 May), disrupting rail communication between Dhaka and the Chattogram and Sylhet regions.
The incident occurred around 10:15pm near the Poiratola level crossing, just outside the Brahmanbaria Railway Station.
Md Shakir Jahan, assistant station master at Brahmanbaria Railway Station, said the Dhaka-bound freight train no-603, travelling from Chattogram, crossed the station at around 10:10pm.
Shortly afterward, one of its carriages derailed near the level crossing, leading to the suspension of train services on the route, he added.
Authorities have notified Akhaura Junction, and a recovery train has been dispatched to the spot to remove the derailed carriage and restore operations, he also said.
