Commuters can now use Rapid Pass on Hatirjheel circular buses
The service, operated by HR Transport Agency, was inaugurated this afternoon (20 July) near the FDC counter area

The Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) has officially launched the "Rapid Pass", a digital fare payment system, for the Hatirjheel circular bus service, aiming to modernise urban transport and ensure a smoother commuting experience for city dwellers.
The service, operated by HR Transport Agency, was inaugurated this afternoon (20 July) near the FDC counter area.
Speaking at the event as the chief guest, Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said, "People have many complaints about roads. We aim to restore comfort in public transport. Metro rail has brought momentum, and now we need to bring similar improvements to roads as well."
According to the DTCA, the passengers can use the same Rapid Passes they use at the metro stations. The passengers will also be able to buy and recharge Rapid Passes from ticket counters of the Hatirjheel bus service.
Irregular passengers can purchase QR tickets through the PapidQR app or obtain one in exchange for cash at ticket counters.
Also speaking on the occasion, Chief Adviser's Special Assistant on Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Sheik Moinuddin said, "This technology will gradually be implemented in toll plazas and trains as well, so that people can travel to different places using a single card."
DTCA Executive Director Neelima Akhtar said there is no chance to charge additional fare over the government-set fare. It will also reduce hassle to passengers. Rapid Pass users at metro rail increased to 68%, which will be 70% within a short time.
She said the online recharge facility for Rapid Pass will also be ensured within the shortest time.
Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, special assistant to the chief adviser on home affairs, was also present at the inauguration event.
At the event, DTCA, which manages the Rapid Pass system, announced plans to expand the digital payment system across different bus routes in the city in phases.
Stakeholders believe this will play a vital role in making the city's public transport system more modern and accountable.
