Train service resumes after three-hour disruption in Gazipur
The disruption began around 8am when a rice-laden truck became stuck while crossing the Sonakhali level crossing on the Dhaka-Rajshahi rail route

Train movement between Dhaka and the northern region resumed after a three-hour suspension caused by a truck getting stuck on a level crossing in Gazipur's Kaliakair upazila this morning (14 July).
The disruption began around 8am when a rice-laden truck became stuck while crossing the Sonakhali level crossing on the Dhaka-Rajshahi rail route.
The vehicle was removed using a wrecker at 11am, allowing normal train operations to resume.
Abul Khayer Chowdhury, station master of Joydebpur Railway Station, confirmed the incident and said that the truck had halted all train movement on the route for several hours.
Local and railway sources said recent continuous rainfall had severely damaged the Kaliakair-Dhamrai road, forming numerous potholes, several of them directly in front of the level crossing. The truck became lodged in one of these potholes while trying to cross the tracks.
Despite attempts by the driver and local residents to move the vehicle, it could not be removed until a wrecker was brought in. During the suspension, the Sirajganj Express, en route to Dhaka, was stranded for an extended period at Mirzapur Station in Tangail. Several other trains also faced delays at various stations.
Sub-Inspector Nadir Uz-Zaman of the Joydebpur Railway Junction Police Outpost also confirmed that train services were halted due to the incident and resumed after the truck was cleared from the tracks.
