Trade through Akhaura land port to remain suspended for 4 days during Eid holidays
Regular trade activities will resume from 10 June
Import and export activities through the Akhaura land port will remain suspended for four days, from 6 June to 9 June, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
The temporary closure was announced jointly by the Akhaura Land Port Importers and Exporters Association and the C&F Agents Association, according to port officials. However, cross-border passenger movement through the port will continue as usual during the holiday.
Md Shahnewaz Mia, joint general secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, said, "Import-export trade will remain suspended for four days for Eid-ul-Adha. We have officially informed both the Akhaura and Agartala land port authorities in writing."
"Regular trade activities will resume from 10 June," he added.
Akhaura land port is one of the country's key export-oriented land ports, with goods worth approximately Tk1.5 crore exported to India daily. The volume of exports through this port exceeds imports, making it a vital hub for outbound trade.
