With this, four people died in the Bay of Bengal in Cox's Bazar over the past two days.

Earlier yesterday evening (8 June), a tourist named Rajib Ahmed, 35, a resident of Chattogram's DC Road, went missing while bathing at Laboni Point beach.

His body washed ashore eight hours later at midnight near the north side of Diabetic Point beach.

Additionally, Mohammad Nuru, a resident of Cox's Bazar's Baharchara area, went missing yesterday morning while trying to catch fish in the sea with a net at Shaibal Point of the sea beach.

His body washed ashore this morning at Naziratek Point near the mouth of the Bakkhali River. Lifeguards later recovered the body.

Quoting locals, Executive Magistrate Nafi said Shahinur Rahman came to Cox's Bazar in the morning from Rajshahi with his wife and two sons for vacation.

They checked into the Hotel Sea Crown in the Kolatoli area upon reaching Cox's Bazar. Later in the afternoon, they went into the sea to bathe.

At one point, lifeguards saw the father and one son being swept away by the current and rescued them in critical condition, bringing them to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital.

The attending physician declared both dead upon arrival.

Mohammad Shukkur, a senior worker with Sea Safe Life Guard, said lifeguards immediately launched a rescue operation upon witnessing the incident.

"The father was rescued first, followed by the son, and they were brought to the hospital. Both were vomiting blood at the time," he added.

Nafi said both bodies have been kept at the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue.
