Tourist couple injured in Cox’s Bazar parasailing fall; operations suspended
The administration is currently trying to locate them, with checks underway at all local hospitals and clinics

A tourist couple sustained injuries in a parasailing accident in Cox's Bazar sea beach this afternoon (20 May).
The incident, which occurred in the Dariya Nagar area, has led to another temporary shutdown of all parasailing activities, Executive Magistrate Nafiz Intesar Nafi of the Cox's Bazar District Administration's Tourism Cell confirmed The Business Standard.
The identities of the injured tourists have not yet been confirmed.
Eyewitnesses said the couple sustained injuries to their legs and waist.
Executive Magistrate Nafi said, "Around noon, two tourists went parasailing at Dariya Nagar Point, operated by an individual named Farid, in violation of existing safety regulations. During the activity, they fell and were injured."
He further stated, "We have confiscated the parasailing equipment. However, the owner and staff fled the scene. Parasailing activities in Cox's Bazar have now been suspended temporarily."
Following the accident, the parasailing operators allegedly moved the injured couple from the site before authorities arrived.
The administration is currently trying to locate them, with checks underway at all local hospitals and clinics.
This incident follows a similar accident in June 2024, when a female tourist was seriously injured after falling in the same area, leading to a temporary closure of parasailing operations that were resumed just days later.
