Tongi chemical warehouse explosion: Firefighter succumbs to injuries at burn institute
Including three firefighters, six individuals were injured in the explosion at the chemical warehouse at Sahara Market in Bscic Industrial City in Gazipur's Tongi yesterday afternoon.

One of three firefighters wounded in the line of duty in an explosion at a chemical warehouse in Tongi has succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Firefighter Shamim Ahmed, 40, who had suffered burns on 100% of the surface area of his body, breathed his last at 3pm today (23 September), confirmed Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute.
Including the three firefighters, six individuals were injured while responding to a fire in the chemical warehouse at Sahara Market in Bscic Industrial City in Gazipur's Tongi yesterday afternoon.
The fire originated in the tin-shed chemical warehouse of a garment factory around 3pm.
Upon receiving the information, fire service personnel hurried to the scene at 3:45pm.
Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the warehouse, injuring the six, including a factory official.
All of them were rescued and rushed to Dhaka for treatment.
The fire was later brought under control at around 7pm.
