Tongi chemical warehouse explosion: Another firefighter succumbs to injuries at burn institute

Another firefighter, injured in a chemical warehouse explosion in Tongi, has died while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Firefighter Nurul Huda, 38, who had suffered burns on 100% of the surface area of his body, breathed his last at 2:40pm today (24 September), confirmed Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute.
Six individuals, including three firefighters, were injured while responding to a fire in the chemical warehouse at Sahara Market in Bscic Industrial City in Gazipur's Tongi on Monday (22 September).
Of them, firefighter Shamim Ahmed, 40, died while undergoing treatment at the burn institute yesterday (23 September).
The fire originated in the tin-shed chemical warehouse of a garment factory around 3pm on Monday. Upon receiving the information, fire service personnel hurried to the scene at 3:45pm.
Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the warehouse, injuring the six, including a factory official.
All of them were rescued and rushed to hopsital for treatment.
The fire was later brought under control at around 7pm.
