Three detained for illegal entry into Chattogram Port, one tried to board foreign vessel

Chattogram Port authorities today (27 August) detained three people for attempting to enter the restricted area illegally, including one who tried to board a foreign-bound commercial vessel with the intention of leaving the country.
According to port officials, the first detainee, identified as Md Mahfuz Sheikh, of Maksudpur upazila in Gopalganj, was caught roaming near jetty number 11 around 8:30am.
During interrogation, he admitted that he entered the port to sneak aboard an outbound ship and travel overseas. A passport, national identity card, flattened rice, drinking water, and other food items were recovered from his bag.
In a separate incident earlier in the day, security personnel detained Md Abul Khayer of Senbagh upazila in Noakhali while he was trying to enter the port through gate number 1 by crawling under a vehicle. Officials said he intended to steal goods from inside the port.
Later, at around 2:15pm, another person was detained at JCB-2 gate for attempting to use another person's entry pass. The man, identified as Mehedi Hasan Lablu, son of Md Rafiqul Islam from Mohamuni Para in Manikchhari upazila of Khagrachhari, had used the port pass of his uncle, Shafiqul Islam, who had recently passed away.
