Third consignment of US wheat arrives in Mongla
Sample testing of the newly arrived shipment has begun, and steps are being taken to ensure quick clearance, says the food ministry
A vessel carrying more than 60,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States has arrived at Mongla Port today (15 November).
The MV WECO TATI anchored at the port's outer anchorage this morning, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Food.
The consignment is part of a government-to-government (G-to-G) cash purchase agreement under an MoU signed between Bangladesh and the US.
Under the agreement, Bangladesh will import a total of 440,000 tonnes of wheat. The first two consignments — 56,959 tonnes and 60,802 tonnes—arrived on 25 October and 3 November respectively.
According to the ministry, sample testing of the newly arrived shipment has begun, and steps are being taken to ensure quick clearance.
