'Thief and crooked cricketer like Shakib won’t be seen in 100 years': Shafiqul

Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said that a "thief and crooked cricketer" like former Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan will not be seen again even in 100 years.
He made this remark yesterday (30 October) on his Facebook account, sharing a photo card on Facebook, citing Asif Akbar's comment on Shakib.
Shafiqul wrote, "In the next 100 years, there won't be another murderer-worshipper, thief, crook, and stock market looter cricketer like him."
Earlier, on the same day, popular singer Asif Akbar, who was elected as a director from the Chattogram District Sports Association in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections held on 6 October, praised Shakib during a media interaction.
Asif said, "Shakib's personality and personal issues are his own matters. Whether he is personally good or bad is a separate issue — that's for the court and society to decide.
"As a player, Shakib Al Hasan is a brand of Bangladesh. We don't know if we'll get another Shakib in the next 100 years. But Shakib Al Hasan is Shakib Al Hasan," he added.
Amid student and public protests, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country on 5 August last year, leading to the fall of the Awami League government. Since then, Shakib Al Hasan — who was elected a member of parliament on an Awami League ticket — has been living abroad for about a year and a half. Several cases have been filed against him.
