Tarique to return home soon after making arrangements for Khaleda in London: Mahdi
Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of Tarique Rahman, is at the centre of the overall medical coordination from London, he says
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to Bangladesh soon after making all necessary arrangements for the treatment and stay of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in London, his adviser, Mahdi Amin said today (4 December).
In a Facebook post, Mahdi wrote, "Once Madam [Khaleda Zia] arrives safely in London, he will help her settle in and complete all local arrangements. After that, he [Tarique] will return to the country soon, InshaAllah."
He stated that Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of Tarique Rahman, is at the centre of the overall medical coordination from London.
"She is expected to leave for Dhaka today and reach tomorrow morning to accompany Khaleda Zia on the Qatari air ambulance. However, if flight arrangements are completed before her arrival or if she is unable to travel, London-based specialist Dr Richard Bill has already arrived in Dhaka."
Khaleda Zia's daughter-in-law, Sharmila Rahman, along with several doctors and officials, will also accompany her on the air ambulance, Mahdi said.
According to him, Tarique Rahman is overseeing every aspect of the process, including regular briefings with the medical board, direct communication with specialised hospitals in London, preparations of the Qatari air ambulance, and travel arrangements for Khaleda Zia and Dr Zubaida Rahman.
Mahdi said Khaleda Zia's physical condition has improved due to the tireless efforts of the medical board comprising renowned local and international specialists, the prayers of the nation, and the cooperation of diplomats.
"To ensure the most advanced and modern treatment, a decision has been made to admit Madam to a hospital in London as soon as possible," he added.
Meanwhile, the medical board treating Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital's Coronary Care Unit (CCU) has unanimously recommended her immediate transfer to London for advanced treatment.
The transfer, using a Qatari royal air ambulance, is expected after Thursday midnight or by Friday morning (5 December), said her personal physician Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
