Talks with stakeholders started, July proclamation drafting next: Rizwana
The government has already initiated discussions with all stakeholders on the July proclamation, Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Rizwana Hasan said today (1 January).
"Now we will go for drafting the proclamation," she said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat this afternoon.
Rizwana stated, "Adopting a proclamation after a revolution is a common practice. We also recognised the need for a proclamation, along with [national] unity, following the July revolution. Hence, when students called for a proclamation, we agreed with them."

On 30 December last year, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters that the interim government has taken the initiative to prepare a proclamation of the July mass uprising based on national consensus
"This declaration will be adopted in order to consolidate the people's unity, anti-fascist spirit and desire for state reform developed through the July uprising," he said during the media briefing.
Shafiqul Alam said the proclamation will be prepared based on the views of all participating students, political parties and stakeholders, including the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement that led the uprising.
Earlier on 29 December, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens' Committee announced to hold a programme for "Proclamation of the July Revolution" at the Shaheed Minar.
However, at midnight on 31 December, they announced that the July Uprising Proclamation will not be declared as earlier planned. Instead, they called on the masses to gather at the Shaheed Minar to hold a "March for Unity" programme.
