The Ministry of Public Administration has appointed Tahsina Begum as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate of Shariatpur.
According to an official notification issued today (7 July), the appointment takes immediate effect.
She served as a deputy secretary at the Ministry of Commerce.
A member of the 25th BCS Administration cadre, Tahsina replaces former DC Mohammad Ashraf Uddin.
He had been made an officer on special duty (OSD) on 21 June, following the circulation of a controversial video involving him.
A three-member inquiry committee was formed to investigate the incident and assess whether his actions violated civil service discipline. He was then removed.
Since Ashraf's removal, Wahid Hossain, deputy director (local government) of the district administration, had been serving as the acting DC.
