Symbolic marathon held in Chattogram marking July Uprising day
At the prize-giving ceremony, 12 courageous fighters injured during the July Uprising of 2024 were honoured with commemorative crests in recognition of their sacrifice and bravery

A symbolic marathon was held in a festive atmosphere at the Chattogram District Stadium today (18 July) to mark July Uprising Day 2025.
Organised by the district administration, the marathon saw the participation of around 650 competitors, including general students, injured veterans of the July uprising, athletes, youths, and members of various social organisations.
The event was presided over by District Commissioner Farida Khanam, with Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin attending as the chief guest. The symbolic marathon was inaugurated at 7am by releasing balloons, carrying a message of youth solidarity for democracy, rights, and justice.
In the women's category, Shraboni Chowdhury secured first place, followed by Tabassum Sobah in second and Mosammat Sohana in third. In the men's category, Musfiqur Rahman came first, Mohammad Sumon second, and Abu Nasar third.

All participants who completed the marathon successfully were awarded medals and certificates.
Also present at the event were Deputy Director of Local Government Md Noman Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Land Acquisition) AKM Golam Morshed Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Kamruzzaman, district administration officials and employees, the district sports officer, officials and employees from various government offices, and journalists.
