Sylhet administration issues 3-day ultimatum to return looted stones

The Sylhet district administration has issued a three-day ultimatum for the return of stones looted from Sada Pathor tourism spot at Bholaganj in Companiganj upazila.
The stones must be returned to Sada Pathor by Tuesday (26 August) evening at the offenders' own cost and initiative. After the deadline, anyone found possessing the stones will face stern legal action.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sarwar Alam made the announcement yesterday (23 August) through a public notice. Loudspeaker announcements were also carried out across Companiganj to inform the local residents.
Sarwar said local representatives of Companiganj and Sylhet Sadar upazilas have been assigned responsibility to provide full cooperation in recovering and restoring the stones.
The DC warned that after the deadline, if raids uncover hidden stones, not only the individuals in possession but also the responsible local representatives will face legal consequences.
He added that along with the recovery efforts, the masterminds behind the looting will also be brought under the law.
