Students to wear black badges today protesting death of students in road mishaps
Students, demanding safer roads, continued their protests on Sunday with a symbolic coffin procession and satirical placards against the mismanagement on the roads of the capital.
They said they will wear black badges and gags on Monday to protest the death of students killed in road accidents.
Around 12:15pm on Sunday students from various educational institutions gathered on Rampura Bridge with a procession, holding satirical placards with slogans concerning road safety. They carried out a peaceful demonstration without disrupting traffic, forming a human chain on the sidewalk.

Another group of students took out a symbolic coffin procession at the capital's Shahbagh, demanding safer roads.
Fewer student activists took to the streets on Sunday compared to previous days.
Sohagi Samia, a co-ordinator of the movement, told The Business Standard that the number of activists was less because of bad weather.
Asked how long they will continue the movement, she said, "We will continue the movement until the government meets our 11-point demands. We will not back down even if we have to continue it indefinitely."
On Saturday, the protesting students who have been innovative in their protest campaigns, staged a red card demonstration against corruption and mismanagement on the roads. On Sunday, they had satirical placards and a coffin march. Their Monday demonstration will include wearing black badges, and on Tuesday they plan on a bicycle rally.
Speaking on the ongoing student movement, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Khilgaon Zone) Nurul Amin told The Business Standard that no movement can continue indefinitely.
"We are keeping an eye on the movement so that no outsider can manipulate the protest to suit their own agenda to undermine law and order," he added.
