Strict action if worship places harmed, religious sentiments hurt: Religious adviser

Strict action will be taken if religious sites of worship are harmed or religious sentiments are hurt, Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain said today.
The adviser issued the warning while visiting a centre of the "Temple Based Child and Mass Literacy Programme" installed at the Krishnananda Temple in Cox's Bazar.
Joining a discussion there, he highlighted that honesty, fairness and love— these values must be spread in society. "Bangladesh is a nation that belongs to people of all faiths, and all should contribute to the country's development."
The adviser was given a reception when he arrived at the temple around 11am. He inspected the activities of the literacy programme at the temple and spoke to students and stakeholders.
Parimal Kanti Shil, trustee of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust for Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari districts; Ranjit Baroi, assistant director of the trust, and Dulal Chandra Dey, president of the Krishnananda Dham temple management committee, among others, also spoke at the discussion.
Alongside teachers and students of the literacy programme, officials from various government departments, the Krishnananda Dham management committee, and local Hindu community leaders were present.
