SSC results nothing but tears for Hridoy’s mother

Firoza Begum's dream of seeing her son as an engineer will never come true although he passed the Secondary School Certificate exam with GPA 4.11.

On Eid day, her son Md Hridoy was beaten to death by miscreants as he protested against the harassment of his female friend.

Firoza Begum of Charkaloni area of Barguna worked as a maid and her husband Delwar Hossain pulled a rickshaw to support their only son Hridoy's education.

Their grief of losing their only son multiplied when Hridoys SSC results were out on Sunday, with his score of GPA 4.11.

"I wanted to make my son an engineer so that he would not have to suffer like us. But they destroyed everything," said a wailing Firoza.

"What shall we do with the result when my son is no more?" she cried out.

"Even after he has done well, we are shedding tears for Hridoy today. As a teacher, this feeling is unbearable," said Md Zakir Hossain, principle of Textile Vocational Institute Barguna.

In the afternoon on Eid day, Hridoy went for a walk with friends at Golbunia Bulk Yard on the banks of the Payra River in Barguna.

At that time, Hridoy protested as some miscreants harassed a female friend, who was with him. In connection with previous enmity, the miscreants beat up Hridoy, eventually killing him.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Barguna Sadar Circle Md Shahjahan Hossain said after a case was filed they arrested seven including the main accused in this case.
