Six illegal brick kilns fined in Sirajganj

A mobile court of the Department of Environment (DoE) has fined six unauthorised brick kilns a total of Tk19.5 lakh in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj .
It also demolished two of them for illegally producing bricks.
The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Sajjad Zahid Ratul, conducted the daylong drive yesterday.

During the operation, the owner of Messrs Barna Bricks was fined Tk2 lakh while the owner of Messrs Prottay Bricks was fined Tk3.5 lakh.
The owner of Messrs ADB Bricks and Messrs Lamia Bricks was each fined Tk3 lakh.
Meanwhile, the owner of Messrs Mama-Bhagne Bricks was fined Tk5 lakh and the owner of Messrs RFB Bricks was fined Tk3 lakh.
Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Tuhin Alam, Prosecutor Shahin Alam and members of RAB, police and Ansar Battalion were present during the operation.
Officials said such drives against illegal brick kilns will continue.
