Shrimp fry worth Tk1cr seized in Cumilla while being smuggled to India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized shrimp fry worth over Tk1 crore during an anti-smuggling operation in the Chanpur area of Cumilla Adarsha Sadar upazila.
The seizure took place late last night (27 May) after smugglers abandoned a truck and fled the scene upon sensing the presence of a BGB patrol team.
Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz, commanding officer of BGB Battalion 10, confirmed the incident today (28 May).
"Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team conducted an operation in Chanpur area. During the operation, the smugglers fled, leaving behind a truck carrying shrimp fry," he said.
He added that a search of the vehicle revealed shrimp fry worth Tk1.2 crore. The seized consignment has since been handed over to the customs authority following legal procedures.
