A cargo vessel has arrived at Chattogram Port from Kakinada Port in Andhra Pradesh, India, carrying 24,690 tonnes of parboiled rice.

The ship, MV Tanais Dream, reached the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port at 7:00pm yesterday (25 December). Unloading operations are set to commence at the port's General Cargo Berth from Today (26 December).

Gnana Priya Bidurshi Chakma, controller of Movement and Storage under the Food department, told TBS, "The unloading process will start on Thursday and is expected to take eight days. Approximately 3,000 tonnes of rice will be unloaded daily. Once unloaded, the rice—packaged in 493,800 bags—will be transported to warehouses before being distributed to consumers in phases."
