Shahabuddin, Forhad re-elected unopposed as Chittagong Club chairman, vice-chairman
A total of 938 votes were cast out of 1,996 eligible members, reflecting strong participation in the election
Shobhan M Shahabuddin (Raj) and Dr Mohammad Syedul Anowar Forhad have been re-elected chairman and vice-chairman of The Chittagong Club Limited for the 2025–26 term.
The club's 146th annual general meeting (AGM) and election were held on Thursday night, at the Chittagong Club premises, according to a press release issued on Friday (12 December).
Elections were contested for nine executive committee member positions, with 12 candidates in the race.
The elected executive members are Javed Hashem (Nannu), Fahim Hasan Reza, Dildar Ahmed (Dilu), Mohammad Mohiuddin, Mohammad Sarwar Hasan, Md Kamruzzaman Liton, Advocate Sabrina Chowdhury, Mohammad Kamrul Islam and Sheikh Hasan Zaman.
A total of 938 votes were cast out of 1,996 eligible members, reflecting strong participation in the election. The club said 27 votes cast for executive member positions and 12 votes cast for the vice-chairman post were declared invalid.
The AGM and election session began at 7pm and was presided over by Shahabuddin (Raj), with Anowar Forhad and members of the executive committee in attendance.
The election process was conducted by an election committee headed by senior club member M Saiful Islam, with M Muslim Uddin and Md Rafiqul Karim serving as joint conveners.
