Satkhira mangoes to hit markets from 5 May
Deputy Commissioner Mostak Ahmed said, “No mangoes can be picked or marketed before the specified dates”

Mangoes from Satkhira, the first to reach markets in the country each year, will be available starting 5 May, according to a decision made during a consultation meeting on safe mango marketing held at the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner's office today (30 April).
In the meeting, attended by farmers, traders, and agriculture officials, it was unanimously decided that local varieties like Gobindobhog and Gopalbhog will be harvested and marketed from 5 May, followed by Himsagar from 20 May, Langra from 27 May, and Amrapali from 5 June.
Deputy Commissioner Mostak Ahmed said, "No mangoes can be picked or marketed before the specified dates."
He noted that varieties such as Gobindobhog, Gopalbhog, Himsagar, Langra, and Amrapali ripen in phases and that the harvesting timeline was set to ensure quality and safety.
The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) is expecting around 70 metric tonnes of mangoes from Satkhira to be exported abroad this year.
The meeting was attended by Saiful Islam, deputy director of the DAE, along with officials from various agencies, mango growers, and traders.
