Salman F Rahman shown arrested in 4 ACC cases over banking sector corruption
2 cases accusing him of Tk618 crore in bank loans under fictitious company names

Salman F Rahman, private industry and investment adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has been shown arrested in four separate Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) cases over allegations of embezzling funds and engaging in irregularities and corruption in the banking sector.
The order was issued today (28 August) by Acting Judge Ibrahim Mia of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court, following separate petitions filed by the ACC.
The cases, filed earlier this year, include one alleging the acquisition of Tk496 crore in illegal loans under the names of fake companies. Another case accused him of embezzling nearly Tk34 crore and laundering Tk76.39 crore.
The ACC also filed two additional cases alleging Tk618 crore in bank loans under fictitious company names, and Tk146.82 crore in loans alongside nearly Tk113.41 crore in money laundering under nominal company names.
During the hearing, Salman was produced in court from jail. After being shown arrested, the court ordered that he be returned to custody.
Salman was initially arrested on 13 August 2024 at Sadarghat in Dhaka while attempting to flee via waterways, based on confidential intelligence. He was then remanded in multiple cases filed in the capital, including those related to Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and has remained in jail since.
