Rucsu polls: 322 nomination papers submitted for central union, senate posts

The deadline for submitting nomination papers in the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (Rucsu) has ended today (7 September), with a total of 322 submissions for central union and Senate student representative posts.
Speaking to reporters, Rucsu election Returning Officer Setaur Rahman said, "Nomination papers have been submitted by student organisations as well as general students. We hope to arrange a fair and inclusive election."
Out of 479 forms distributed for 23 central union and five Senate student representative posts, 322 were submitted, while 157 forms were not returned. Among them, 20 candidates submitted nominations for the vice-president (VP) post, 15 for the general secretary (GS) post, and 16 for the assistant general secretary (AGS) post.
For other posts, nine candidates submitted for sports secretary, six for assistant sports secretary, 11 for cultural affairs secretary, nine for assistant cultural affairs secretary, seven for women affairs secretary, eight for assistant women affairs secretary, 13 for information and research secretary, eight for assistant information and research secretary, 10 for media and publication secretary, 10 for assistant media and publication secretary, nine for science and technology secretary, eight for assistant science and technology secretary, nine for debate and literature secretary, six for assistant debate and literature secretary, 12 for environment and social welfare secretary, and 18 for assistant environment and social welfare secretary.
For the four executive member posts, 56 candidates submitted nomination papers, while 62 nominations were filed for the five Senate student representative posts.
According to the election schedule, scrutiny of nominations will take place on 8 and 9 September, while the preliminary candidate list will be published on 10 September. The deadline for candidacy withdrawal is 13 September, and the final list will be announced on 14 September.
The Rucsu election is scheduled for 25 September, with a total of 29,000 students on the voter list.
