Mohammadpur robbery: 5 arrestees were dismissed members of different law enforcement agencies
A total of 11 people have been arrested in connection with the robbery

Police have arrested 11 people in connection with a robbery at a Mohammadpur flat, five among whom are dismissed members of different law enforcement agencies.
Director of Rapid Action Battalion's Law and Media department Lt Col Munim Ferdous confirmed the matter, saying that the accused were held in separate drives in various areas of the capital yesterday (12 October).
"Among the arrestees, five are dismissed members of different forces. The other three are general people. A bracelet and a gold ring have been recovered from them," Munim said.
Earlier on Friday (11 October), a group of robbers snatched Tk75 lakh and 70 bhori gold ornaments from the house of a businessman.
According to police, businessman Abu Bakar lives on the second floor of house no-720/1 at Bashbari in Mohammadpur.
Around 3:30am on Friday, around 15-16 people wearing uniforms of the army and RAB arrived at the main gate of the building. The guard opened the door thinking that these people were law enforcers, who then went directly to Abu Bakar's door and asked him to open it, police said.
"They first asked me why I did not submit my legal weapon to the police station. Although I told them that I did, they started to search my flat. They ransacked my almirah and at one point, barged into my office and looted the money and ornaments from the safe kept there," Abu Bakar said.
"The gang left my house around 4:15am after taking away Tk75.50 lakh and 70 bhori gold ornaments," Abu Bakar added.
Quoting the guard of the building, police said that there was no way to find out that those wearing army uniform were not members of the armed forces.
The robbers came in two private cars and two microbuses wearing helmets and they had a weapon with them.
