Rizvi questions Jamaat ameer's hacked account claim, calls remarks on women discriminatory
The BNP leader added that no one would remain silent if half of the population is portrayed in a distorted and derogatory manner.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (2 February) described the Jamaat-e-Islami's claim that its ameer's social media account was hacked as "mysterious".
Speaking at a rally organised by the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, he questioned how an account could be hacked and then recovered within such a short period.
"This claim raises serious doubts," he said. Referring to the Jamaat ameer's remarks in an interview with Al Jazeera, Rizvi said the assertion that women may become members of parliament but not party chiefs is "clearly discriminatory".

Rizvi added that no one would remain silent if half of the population is portrayed in a distorted and derogatory manner. "Such remarks amount to humiliation and disrespect toward women," he said, adding, "Your conduct itself indicates how you may treat women in the future."
The BNP leader further said targeting women through political statements made in the name of religion is unacceptable.
