Rifat murder: Court orders to confiscate assets of eight accused
The court also fixed October 16 for the next hearing in the case
A Barguna court on Thursday ordered authorities to seize the assets of eight absconding accused in a case filed over the much-talked-about Rifat murder.
Judge Mohammad Sirazul Islam Gazi of the Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order around 10:30am on Thursday in the presence of Ayesha Siddika Minni and eight other suspects.
The eight absconding accused are Mohaiminul Islam Sifat and Md Musha, both adults, and six juveniles – Rakibul Hasan Hawlader, Abu Abdullah Raihan, Md Naim, Md Rakibul Hasan Niamot, Md Sayeed Maruf Billah alias Mahibullah and Prince Mollah.

Ayesha Siddika Minni and Arian Hossain Shrabon remain on bail.
The court resent seven of the accused to Barguna District jail after they were produced before the court. It also rejected the bail petition filed by prime suspect Rakibul Hasan Rifat Farazi and fourth suspect Rezwan Ali Khan alias Tiktok Hridoy, said Advocate Majibul Huq Kislu, the lawyer for the plaintiff.
The bail petitions filed by three juvenile accused were sent to the children's court, he added.
The court also fixed October 16 for the next hearing in the case.
Charges were dropped against Nayan Bond, the prime-suspect in the case, because he was killed, ostensibly in a gunfight, on July 2.
Earlier on September 1, Md Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of the Barguna Sadar Police Station and investigation officer in the case, formally charged 24 people, including Ayesha Siddika Minni, of involvement in the murder.
Minni's husband Rifat was hacked to death in front of her in broad daylight in Barguna on June 26. The incident was recorded on surveillance camera.
On August 29, the High Court granted bail to Ayesha Siddika Minni on condition that she would not say anything to the media about the case.
