Police have recovered the body of a college teacher named Abdullah Baki from East Rajabazar area under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the capital.
Police recovered the body around 8am today (4 June) and sent it to the hospital for an autopsy.
Confirming the matter, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imaul Haque told TBS, "Abdullah Baki, 60, was a retired professor of Tejgaon College. He lived with his family in the East Rajabazar area."
Quoting the building's caretaker and eyewitnesses, OC Imaul Haque added, "We came to know primarily that Abdullah died by suicide after jumping from the 10th-floor balcony."
"After recovering the body, it was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College for autopsy. Further details will be known from the post-mortem report," the OC said.
OC Imaul further said, "Abdullah had been suffering from illness for a long time. His ancestral home is in Boalkhali, Rajshahi, but he had been permanently residing in the Rajabazar area."
