Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby and daughter Azmina Siddiq got plots in Purbachal New Town without submitting any application due to the influence of British MP Tulip Siddiq, also a niece of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasian, according to the information revealed from three charge-sheets submitted against them.

They managed to get the plots from the Rajdhani Unnayan Katripokkha (Rajuk) by using special power and influence of Tulip Siddiq on her maternal aunt the then prime minister Sheikh Hasina, said the charge-sheets.

ACC Assitant Director Afnan Jannat Keya submitted charge sheet to the court on 10  March, accusing 17 people in the case.

The Investigation Officer (IO) of the cases, Assistant Director (AD) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Afnan Jannat Keya brought charges against 53 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq.

The IO after submitting the charge sheets applied to the court for issuing arrest warrants against them and attaching their assets and properties.

The court, however, fixed 13 April to accept the charge sheets and hear the petitions.

The IO in the charge sheet against Sheikh Rehana mentioned that she [Rehana] did not apply for getting allotment of plot in Rajuk's prescribed form, so that it was not scrutinised by the appropriate authority.

Her name was not enlisted in the registrar book of the Rajuk as it was not submitted at all, the IO said.

When Tulip Siddiq came to know that her aunt, the then prime minister, allotted a 10-katha plot for herself, her daughter Sayma Wajed and son Sajib Wazed Joy each, then she influenced and pressured on Sheikh Hasina to allot similar plots for her mother, brother and sister, the IO added.

The then prime minister Sheikh Hasina with an ulterior motive and misusing her power vested upon her allotted these plots violating sections 4 and 5 of the Rajuk rules, the IO added.

Similar violations were also made for allocation plots in favour of Azmina Siddiq and Radwan Mujib Siddiq.

ACC Deputy Director Salauddin on 13 January filed a case against 15 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasian and her niece Tulip Siddiq.

ACC Public Prosecutor (PP) Mahmud Hossain Jahangir today told BSS that the ACC has already submitted separate charge sheets against Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana and their family members for allotting 60 kathas of land in the diplomatic enclave of the Purbachal New Town project violating existing rules and through corruption.

The accused especially the family members of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana have been absconding so that the court will issue arrest warrants against them as per the law, the prosecutor said, adding that the court will start trial against them after publishing gazette against the absconders.
