Any person or firm found violating the order will face legal action
The government has issued a directive to prevent harassment and undue financial burden on buyers and sellers during the resale or transfer of land or flats that have already been sold and handed over by real estate developers through registered deeds.
According to the directive issued today (12 November), no real estate developer shall demand or collect any money from a buyer or seller in the name of sale approval, transfer approval, mutation, or under any other pretext during the subsequent resale or transfer of such land or flats.
Such practices are completely illegal, it added.
Any person or organisation found violating this order will face legal action under the Real Estate Development and Management Act 2010, the Real Estate Development and Management Rules 2011, and other applicable laws and regulations.
This directive, signed by Md Nurul Amin, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, has been issued in the public interest and takes effect immediately.
